Here it comes, the Winter Solstice! After the Bills beat the Browns, the days slowly start getting longer, soon we all will be sweating in lawn chairs, sipping umbrella drinks, feet in the kiddie pool. To celebrate the approach of this fine day, we will have music! East Coast Dave and the Working Man String Band will both play Friday, 8-11, and then Eric Weinholtz will join us Saturday, also 8-11. Woohoo! We won’t have food specials Friday or Saturday since we have many other things happening both days but we will have breakfast sandwiches and Bloody Marys or Mimosas on Sunday. Come on down and join us!
“Winter Solstice”
someone burns paper money in the street
it’s the day of the winter solstice
flames light up the trees that line the road
we, the living, turn ourselves in shadows
so as to get closer to the departed dead
in streets, at the foot of walls, in the courtyard of houses where our
dear ones once lived
loss and remorse bring home to us the existence
of another world
as dark as the earth
as agile and warm as flames
