How lovely to wake after a rain, all the moreso when that rain has broken the stifling heat and given us a respite. Not sure what that means for our weekend music plans, but we’ll cross our fingers for outside availability, and move inside if it’s storming without complaint. Open Mic with Andy Swift on Friday at 8, so bring your instruments, or your voice, or both, or neither, we have things for you to play. On Saturday Working Man String Band will start at 8 pm, and then Sunday Mark Connors will joins us from 2-5. So much music, and food and drink too….
“Summer”
Is a lazy god, and all promises.
He says he will never leave,
Was a long time coming
With swallows in his air –
Petulant, weeping.
Waking early one morning
I watch him from the bedroom window
Barefoot on the grass,
Stalking the garden and beside himself
With all the brilliant flowers.
With soft, dry hands he soothes their heavy heads.
My children’s books, too,
That were carelessly left on the lawn all night,
Unread and ruined by the rain.
