What inspires you? To move, to act, to think, to care—what shakes you free from the rut we can all fall into, the grinding feeling that every day is much the same? Reminding ourselves to pay attention certainly helps, or at least to be open to whatever might come wandering down the path, ready to make the world glow… it’s not the same as being mindful, but more like the idea of no-mind in Buddhism or ataraxia in Greek Philosophy, withholding judgment or even effort, since sources of inspiration are all around us, even as we persist in building barriers and blinders that prevent us from noticing them.
Oh yeah, Open Mic! Plenty inspiring, and Andy Swift will bring the music Friday at 8pm.
“It is not that we have so little time but that we lose so much. … The life we receive is not short but we make it so; we are not ill provided but use what we have wastefully.”
